Susanne Bürner was born in 1970 in Germany.
She lives and works in Berlin. Through a broad spectrum of subject
matter, she explores the psychological dimensions of images,
directing the viewer attention to issues of presence and absence
including her personal projection. Architecture plays an essential
role in her work, as a human attempt to structure space and society,
and to methodically arrange our lives.
Her work has been exhibited at Los Angeles Filmforum,
CAPCmusée d’art contemporain de Bordeaux, Hamburger Bahnhof,
Berlin ; Hygiene Museum, Dresden ; Kunstraum Kreuzberg, South
London Gallery, London ; Fotomuseum Winterthur. She has
organised exhibitions and screenings at Galerie Giti Nourbakhsch,
Berlin ; L40, Berlin ; Videonale, Bonn ; Lajevardi Foundation, Tehran
and Fraeme, La Friche La Belle de Mai, Marseille.
